Driver installation as before, test page appears to process, nothing happens at the printer, message says 'Processing - the printer is in use'. This time the Device URI shows as lpd://192.168.0.4. Second Attempt: This time I tried the 'LPD/LPR host or printer' option, and put in the IP address. The Print Job Queue says 'Held for authentication' (eh?). Under 'Properties in the printer, the policies show 'Enabled, Accepting Jobs, and Shared'. The 'Printer State' message shows only' Idle - rendering completed'. But when I try to print a test page, it appears to process the job, but nothing happens at the printer. I selected the MP560 driver from the CUPS dropdown list, and the printer appears to install.

The printer is found, and the Device URI shows as smb://192.168.0.4/Canon-MP560. So.First Attempt: I tried to 'Add Printer' in Mint 17, using the printer's IP address, which is 192.168.0.4, in the 'Find network printer' option. I have also succeeded in establishing a wifi connection with the MP560 printer and scanner when running PCLinuxOS. My laptop when running XP, and another laptop running Win7, can 'see' and connect wirelessly to the MP560 without problems.
